Japan Safe and sound

We made it to japan safe and sound! We are in Dotombori in osaka at the moment. Its pretty much all the lights, sounds and bicycles the tv makes it out to be. Haha, i now know what it is like to be stared at. Out side the city, you get so many double takes and lingering stares it is a little unsettling. but i did see one other caucasian person today, so they cant be non existent. We are staying at a Homestay about 15 minutes from the city, with a very helpful man called Takamoto San.
I will post some drawings when i figure out an effective way to do it. I tried taking a photo, but the flash sort of destroys it. But there are plenty of good things to draw, and the moleskin sketch book flic got me is perfect for drawing people in the street.

Southbank waiters pad Drawings

Hello blog. These are a few life drawings I did yesterday in southbank. They were done in a little waiter's pad. The coloured up one is just a 10 minute paint up of one of the sketches. Im going to miss drawing the people of southbank, but i cant wait to do this sort of thing in japan!!! thats probably the thing im looking forward to the most.

Nother One

So this is another speed paint from reference. The frame is from Micheal Clayton. See Full Size to see the reference, this is more a colour study than reproduction though. These are a lot of fun. (40min, Ref, PSCS2, No eyedropper)

In other news i said good bye to my good friends Liam and Ben today. I'm going to miss you guys immensely.

And lastly- We The Robots

I've never done a reference drawing in Photoshop. Does that sound stupid? It sounds stupid to me too. This was a speed paint done from a film still, i think it was from Stardust. I found it from this site. It took about 25 minutes, so not much time for structure. I have to do more of these, coz as you can probably tell, im not very good at them- check out the full view to see the ref. No eyedropper tool used, it would sort of defeat the purpose i think.

I also said good bye to my close friend Emily today before i go to Japan. We went to the amazing Warhol exhibition at GOMA. I will miss you Em

Opening of Terror

So this is just a little bit of a teaser for our major project last year. The Adventures of Dr Terror, Photocopy Assistant. We are hoping to send it to a few festivals, but time is running very low!!
