The World of Terror Continues

Hey Hey blog world
These are the rest of the character designs i did for the series pitch we had the other day. There is one more of the Boss, Mr Reed. All 7 were done in 2 days so that is sort of the excuse for them not being very finished.

This is Timothy McHaggis , an Scottish exchange accountant. He doesnt speak, he only chukles to express himselfRichard-The main Antagonist in the series. Smooth, Smarmy, insensitive
And an alternative drawing of Dr Terror

Work on the actual film continues, but slowly. Im working on the 3d Animatic, but it stopped rendering, so i thought i'd update my blog instead... i have a this terrible growing feeling that our film isnt going to come together. it makes me feel ill.

A world of TERROR!!!

These are for an asssignment due this week. We are doing a series pitch based on our DR Terror Story. The first is Dr Terror, the second is his love interest, the third is the office Secretery who slowing gets shorter and fatter throughout the serries because of the gama radiation given off by Dr Terror's helmet. More coming!!!!

...!!!

I dont have much to update today. Sorry to disappoint. BBBBIIIIIGGGG news though. our art shop has brush pens again! haha, yeah i think "stop the presses" is becoming my catch cry. Well we've been waiting months for them to come and now they are here and we are happy animators.

I sort of get the impression that blogs are meant to be somewhere where you record thoughts and discoveries and stuff. Something i have been noticing over the last couple of months is the value of different layers of drawing in different mediums. Like drawing something with a soft oil pencil or 2B and then going over it with ink. This is an example of one of those drawings-

Also check out this blog! its chockers with gift ideas for your favourite Alex!!!

Cake Salesman

Howdy Cow folk. We had a field drawing session for life drawing yesterday. The first guy is a cakes sales man who was trying to sell cakes to a cafe owner. I really dont think he had his heart set on it. The second is a quick value sketch of three ladys drinking coffee. I was with ben when i was drawing these ladies so check out his interpretation. Field drawing is the beez kneez!

Splendour a Go Go

Hahaha, got Splendour in the Grass tickets today! it is going to be insanely great! It was pretty stressful, they had a lame ticketing system where you have to wait in an online que and if you refresh you get bumped to the end of the line. unfortunately because so many people were logging on (i mean the 30thousand tickets sold out in 5 hours) the site kept failing and bumping every one to the end of the line. it was super frustrating. any way, i am going and it is going to be great!

i also got a hair cut today. while i was waiting i drew the hair dresser. this is a quick digital colour of that sketchbook drawing. Im not saying its good, its just extending the scope of the sketch book concept i guess.

My Hands Hurt From Clapping

Big week this week. I went and saw The Black Keys, one of my favourite bands for a looong time. They were simply awsome! Thank you Flic for my ticket!!!! The next night i went to Architecure in Helsinki, another great band. It too was awsome. Im going to post a pic of the shirt i bought some time soon (when i find the charger for my cammera). This is just a stoopid little computer sketch i did inspired by the Architecture gig. just trying to have something output visually today,

In Film news, we had our auditions for dr Terror and Richard today. Its not really fair to talk about how people individually went, but i will say tah they all exceeded our expectations. Now we just have to chose someone...

In Work Intergrated Learning (which i dont think i've ever written about in this blog) both of my prospects have started to look much much less promising. anyway, more news on that as it progresses.

Quickie

I read a really interesting blog yesterday about keeping a sketch book. if you haven't seen it yet i highly recommend it. Any way, we have an assignment due where we have to do a series pitch. because our doctor terror film is designed as part of a series we have decided to elaborate on it for the assignment. but instead of doing it in 3d we're doing a flash style cartoon. this is just a concept for the secretary i draw last night. the concept isnt very strong but i think i will pitch it as a style guide.

Animation yall

I'm not really sure how to post videos here so this is my attempt
This took a ridiculously long time to figure out how o render because I transferred from Maya 7 to 8.5 and there were about 1 billion glitches that slowly became evident. Any way, Tahdahhh!

EDIT: woweee, you tube makes things look terrible! i swear this looks better than this you tube version suggests

A pencil I like

I found a pencil i like today... "STOP THE PRESSES!!!!" i hear you say sarcastically. i dont care its my blog and i'll write what i like. Its a Faber-Castell Extra Soft Black PITT Oil Base. its really nice and soft and responsive to use, it rubs out and it doesnt smear like mud when you rub your hand over it. these are a few quick sketches i did today while trying to avoid the essay i have to write. im not saying their good, but i liked the way it felt to draw them.
In other news, the Denzel gig i did the poster for got cancelled. I dont really mind, i have a cool poster under my belt, and i'll use it for a later gig.
