Hey blog!

so my internet will be turned off from midnight tomorow! i figured i should blog a little before then.
First up is a couple of sketches I did while watching 2001:a space odyssey. i think i will have to watch it again, because it went over my head a little. due in no small part to my split consentration between about 3 other things. i only did a superquick workover with the colours..

Take that eyeballs!!!

all this concept art stuff is a bit stiff. my reason for focusing on it has recently evaporated, so now i just wanna loosen up a little. this guy was a doodle i did while waiting for some of my students to turn up. i spent a bitta time throwing some colours on it. tell me iff your eyeballs bleed!

anyway, ive had a good friend staying with me in my little hiroshima home for a couple of weeks. it was a good break from arting.

this is something i was working on before she came-
theres only so many times you can paint over something before you you loose the original idea completely. this guy is pretty redundant now. maybe ill pollish it into a finished piece some time.

Speedy Paint Over

I didnt really expect to touch this again but while i was waiting for a friend to get out of the shower i cleaned this up a little more. maybe i'll do a little more. Id like to start another one though, so maybe not

just a 20 minute sketch with my good friend liam hockins in mind. hes making a film about pirates. he rightly pointed out that he kinda looks like rambo though, but this guy has notin on rambo
(you can see rubens' colours coming through in my recent stuff, i need to do more varied studies i think)

Dear Blog
Ive been trying to work on another finished piece for my folio. But my brain has decided that it isnt up for it. I think squares call it "Artists Block". Anyway, out of frustration i did another Master Study to try and get the juices flowing again. This is a self portrait of Rubens. Its the back cover of the book i bought a couple of months ago. the last time i did one of these i drew straight into the computer, this one i scanned a sketch. Man! that is soo much easier. took about half the time. This one didnt have as many exciting colours though. a little less striking than the last.
I watched blade runner this morning. Amazing film. I drew this, inspired by one of the characters. a 3 minute colour job.
