Hey guys, i few subtle changes on old finius up there. Pretty much my finished piece i guess. I spent a couple of hours (or more) trying to add more atmosphere but, i think next time i will have to address it earlier in the piece. thanks to everybody for their suggestions. any i didnt get to do on this piece i will definitely keep in mind for next time.

This next guy is part of my next design for the deep activity. The colony of humans spent centuries without conflict, and as such the military was slowly phased out. This is the closest thing there is to a soldier now, the field engineer. Highly trained engineers handling the most dangerous construction tasks involved in the migration to the deep. This fellow is sporting the standard uniform and haircut for the engineers. He is however not suited up, hopefully the next design will be of the field suit...

In other news, my apartment is shaking violently. There is some crazy construction down on the street, but im on the 7th floor. so if theres any real engineers... or architects or builders out there- should i be worried?
Anyway, because of a debarcle with my rice cooker (ie, me forgetting to put water in it), i am running late for work. Much love

theres a story behind it, but i kinda feel like a nerd writing it. so rather than look like a D&D nerd, ill let the the pic speak for it self. hopefully ill think of a way to finalize this bad boy. as always crits and opinions loved

hey guys. this i a study of a Dragonfish. There are some crazy colours out there! i think this guy had about 73% of them, on his face. I cant imagine thinking of these by my self.

So theres a new activity over at CA at the moment called DEEP. Its huge. Basically an open ended topic combining a whole bunch of their weekly activities into one unified behemoth. a 6 week deadline. The topic is an under water utopia. A society, architecture, creatures, politics, transport, everything. Great inspiration.




These are just a few thumbs i did this arve and after work. Exploring my imagination a bit before i start doing research. An hour or two i guess. this stage is my favourite. all the rest is too much like work. Let me know if anything stands out to you

Sketchy Book Party- (now with mini update)

Dear blog,

Today was the first sunny day in while. So i went for a ride and drew in the park for a few hours. Its good to clear the head, and it feels like im actually taking advantage of the beautiful place that im in at the moment.

The figures were these very interesting old women who were raking the leaves up in peace park. i havent done any gestures for a while, mostly just sleeping people on the train, so these were pretty difficult for me. I loved their clothes. they had these really traditional head and neck wraps and big floppy straw hats . I dont think i was able to see their faces once, they were like gardening assassins.

Now for a couple more pages from the last little while--

At Hiroshima Castle. I loved the logo for the castle, its a red carp with the castle drawn in the pattern on its back . They happened to have free stamps on the way out, which made me happy.


Train People
I went to the Hiroshima Flower Festival on Monday. It didnt have much to do with flowers, mainly a big parade. And some great food. I did these while i sat in the shade.

I know i said id have something more meaty soon, but ive had a bit of a block lately. I did a paintingy thing yesterday, but it was terrible. Im a bit confused about what my next proper piece will be. I hope its something good.

Mini Update- Played around for a little with some colours. fun, but not really feeling them though. i wish i could do them while outside, they dont really have any of the feeling of the reality

Dear Blog,

This is the start of a present for the very generous man who gave us a beautiful white leather couch. As well as organizing us a washing machine, fridge, kitchen table, 3 chairs, a vacuum cleaner and microwave for about $60 aus dollars. Mr Matsuawa is the bomb.
Im not sure about japanese customs really, so im not sure if there is rules against giving someone presents with nipples. Please tell me if there is.
I have been missing doing more graphic-y work lately, so this is fun

I touched up this guy a wee bit. there was part of the texture around the neck that was niggling me a little. Thanks heaps for your crits on the last post guys. Em you comment on the hip was right on, hopefully i will fix it.

Dear Blog, its been a while.
This is a painting a did today. When i was almost finished it i thought "shit, this is pretty dark for you alex" but then i remembered once having seen a naked mole rat. im pretty sure theyd give this guy nightmares. there for this guy is OKaaay. Im thinking this is a potential folio piece, so Im up for crits on this one...tell me what this guy makes you think
